Do you want to know one of the biggest excuses people have for not keeping fit?
It’s time and money! While many people recognize the benefits of exercise, they can still be put off the idea of keeping fit at the gym if they are living on a budget and have limited time. Chances are, you may be relating to what we are saying thus far.
However, while we would advocate the gym if you can afford the expense, it’s important to know that you can still stay in shape if you can’t afford the membership fee or the time.
In this article, we have a few ideas that are perfect for any of you looking to stay in shape on a budget.
#1: Work Out To A YouTube video
In the past, you may have worked out at home to a video cassette or DVD you had bought from your local store. While you could still do that if you so desired, you can now curb the expense by watching something similar for zero dollars on YouTube. There are thousands of fitness channels that are tailor-made to whatever exercise you prefer, from aerobics and yoga to strength training and boxing. From the comfort of your living room, you can get your very own personal trainer, many of them are world-famous and certified so you know you are in safe hands. Check out these popular fitness channels for starters, and then do your own research online to find something suited to you.
#2: Download a fitness app
There are loads of fitness apps that can easily be downloaded onto your phone, so browse the app store on whatever mobile device you are using. Some, such as popular exercise apps, Sworkit and Fitbod can be downloaded for free. If you want a personalized experience you can use my fitness app as well! It’s actually called Trainerize but I use their platform to train you virtually. I’ll make you a personalized program tailored to your specific needs. The app is available on the App Store and Google Play but become a subscriber first by clicking here. Some others require a one-off cost or monthly membership fee, but if they are cheaper than a gym membership, you might still consider the expense worth it.
#3: Purchase cheap exercise equipment
Gym equipment doesn’t have to be expensive, so shop around online or at stores near you. Check out Amazon’s affordable gym essentials, for example, as they offer low prices on such items as kettlebells, weights, and exercise mats. You will make further savings if you already have an Amazon Prime account. Online perennial eBay also has a quality range of fitness equipment, including exercise bikes and power racks for discounted costs, so visit their site while you’re online. Your local Walmart is a good place to check out for fitness equipment too, so check out their deals on branded items and pick up what you can reasonably afford. With a bit of shopping around, you can easily build up your own gym at home. So, with the equipment you buy, as well as with the assistance of a YouTube fitness instructor, you might never need to burden your finances with the expense of a gym membership again!
